Poor farmer Hiram can’t pay the mortgage on his farm. The banker and the sheriff give him only two days to come up with the money or they’ll take away the farm and Hiram’s much loved horse Aggie. Determined not to lose his best friend, Hiram and Aggie set out for New York to borrow the money from Hiram’s cousin. But their best laid plans go afoul when they are unsuccessful in locating the cousin. However, all is righted in the end when Aggie’s talents are discovered by the Ting-A-Ling Brothers Circus. Written with broad comic strokes, this Depression-era commedia dell’arte was produced on Broadway by the Federal Theatre. The popular production later toured schools and parks in the New York area.
